Army School Age Programs In Your Neighborhood (ASPYN)
At a time when the demands on Ft. Riley's military families seem to increase on a daily basis, the United States Army and the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Junction City/Geary County are stepping in to assist with one of the biggest concerns of nearly every parent; safe, affordable after school and summer care for their school age child/children.
The Army School Age Programs in Your Neighborhood (ASPYN) initiative was created by the Army to meet the high demand for quality school age care for Army families that live off base. The program will be administered through a collaboration of multiple agencies including the United States Army, the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Junction City/Geary County, and USD 475.
In addition to consistency of school age care, Army families living off base will also be assured consistent fees. A monthly subsidy, based on total family income, will be provided for each Army-sponsored program for each child. This subsidy will assure military families pay fees that are comparable to those charged for on-post care.
All Boys & Girls Clubs employees recruited for this initiative will be screened for favorable background checks, trained in child abuse prevention, fire, health and safety procedures, CPR and first aid, and will maintain Army quality standards. All programs for this project will be monitored to ensure their full compliance.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Junction City/Geary County has began an Army ASPYN program site at Eisenhower Elementary School. Eisenhower Elelmentary School is located at 1625 St. Mary's Road , and provides summer and after school programs to your school age children grades 1 to 5. Busing to the program is provided from Franklin, Lincoln, Sheridan, Spring Valley, Westwood, and Washington schools free of charge.
We are extremely excited about providing high quality, affordable after school and summer programs to your children. The ASPYN brochure provides more details about this program. If you have any further questions, please contact the after school programming department at (785) 717-4025.
